1. Being a dancer gives you an enormous boost in confidence.
A lot of people are extremely nervous having to get up to dance in public. As a dancer, we just need some good music.
As well as a great confidence booster, dancing is also a stress reliever and all-around escape from day-to-day pressure. It's great to be able to go to clubs, parties, band concerts, weddings or any special event and know that you can get up and dance if you want to.
Dancing can improve your social and romantic life. It is a great way to have fun and meet people in a safe, positive, environment.
For couples it provides a shared hobby that encourages attention towards one another.
For singles it helps build a confidence that you will feel comfortable approaching others.
How can dancing improve my Social Life?

2. Great tension reliever!
Dancing helps you get out of your head. Most people are "On-the-go" all day and would just like to do something relaxing and without a lot of thought. Oddly enough, when you get a few lessons and things start to work you will find that dancing is a fabulous stress release. So, instead of being constantly wrapped up in your thoughts do fun stuff, frivolous stuff, cool stuff and just-because-you-want-to stuff.
Here's a few more reasons to Dance:
12. Improved Social Life
13. Business Reasons
14. Self Improvement
15. Ease and Assurance Socially
16. Admiration from Others
17. Becoming Happier
18. A Sense of Achievement or Accomplishment
the list goes on and on . . . !
3. Structured social setting.
Have you ever been to a party and spent the whole time sitting around with a drink in your hand wishing there was Something to DO?
Like can someone get out a board game already?
Dancing gives you a socially acceptable way to meet the person sitting next to you or across the room without pressure or being flippant. Instead of sitting you can DO STUFF.
You ask someone to dance, do some moves for a few minutes, say thanks, repeat with a new person and before you know it you have had a whole evening of FUN!.
You might even make a new friend or two!

4. Meet thousands of other people just like you. Literally.
Meeting new people and making new friends is always a challenge but when people have dancing in common it simply opens the door. Dancers come from all walks of life: programmers, nurses, designers, physicists, teachers, engineers, admin assistants, baristas with dormant college degrees, culinary artists, office workers, construction and trades, the list is endless but we ALL have a commonality, DANCING!

5. Get dressed up!
Get out your "better than usual" clothes because, as a dancer, you are going to get notices. You're going to want to look your best!

6. Dancing makes you sexy!
There's a study. It MUST be true!

DANCE?
Who? Me?
7. Overcome Shyness!
Dancing is a great "Ice Breaker." You already have something in common. Who knows where it might go from there!
8 Increased Conversational Ability.
Guess what happened at the Office Party last years? Yup, you got it! The same old "AROUND THE WATER COOLER" gossip.
I was out to dinner with a group of Scientist and really felt dumb trying to understand Nuclear Physics.
I met a new group of people at a social dance and guess what? We are so different but we could talk dancing as well as I discovered some have the same hobby interest as I!
Dancing may not be and is not the be all to end all conversational skills but it is a doorway through which you may and will find others who have common interests in not only dancing but in other work and hobbies.
A little dancing will take you a long way!
I just CAN NOT see the benefits in learning to dance!
Oh, so true! Most people can NOT see the benefits of learning anything when they begin it. Just like everything else, dancing has to be experienced and as you learn more about it the benefits become clear. However, it is most likely very true that the benefits to dancing, compared to other physical activities, are difficult to see as there is little in comparison. For example, if you workout with weights for six months you will definitely see the muscle tone and be able to compare it to the person next to you. If you learn a computer course the skills will become easier and you will be able to meter yourself with your coworkers or friend. But Dancing? It is not an everyday event and although you can compare yourself to other dancers it will be infrequent and only when you are at a social even. However, even in this situation you won't be "looking at dance skills" you will be busy having fun. Dance benefits just kind of "sneak up on you."
9. It’s the coolest hobby on the planet.
Who doesn't love a little popularity? Such dances are the Mambo, Cha Cha, Salsa or Jive make people stand out on the dance floor. When you learn such dancing, you are cool by association. Plus partner dancing feels like magic.
Hard to explain but you’ll find out when you try it.
10. What age should people learn to dance?
There is NO right age to start learning to dance! However, by our teens we are starting to develop a social life and dancing WILL, at some time, be a part of it.
For young adults dancing is great as: .
-
it teaches relationships necessary in close teamwork;
-
it teaches discipline through practice and routines;
-
it teaches an appreciation and further understanding of music's rhythm and tempo;
-
it teaches fluidity in movement;
-
it teaches poise and balance;
-
it teaches self-confidence;
-
it teaches pride in style of dress and appearance;
-
it teaches a skill and ability that will be very useful all throughout life - in social situations, in business growth and in offering a great exercise.
11. I'm single, why should "I" learn to dance?
For singles the dance community is the best places to mingle primarily because it's a safe social environment. You don't need a lot of fancy introduction lines or awkward conversation. Just say "May I have this dance?" You have a common subject to discuss, Dancing. You will have fun and get the chance to meet lots of fun people.

Why do we watch and admire good dancers?
Because they are getting the most out of the dancing and definitely having fun.
